The Crows Castle - Senja
Unique, strange and wonderful (words are difficult to describe this museum style accommodation). Located at Bøvær near Hamn on the island of Senja, this old wooden building was once the heart of the local fishing industry. Fishermen worked here and lived here, rowing out to sea in their Nordland boats to catch cod, herring and coalfish. The fish were processed then shipped south to the international markets.
This unique building has been carefully restored first by cultural personality Ulf Knudsen and latterly by George Blichfeldt who has the same sense of commitment and care. It now serves as a group venue (6 people plus) for short breaks, music festivals and team building/seminars. The property can accommodate up to 25 guests and is ideal for a unique themed break. With stunning mountain backdrops, white sandy beach and westerly views towards Greenland, it offers superb light and excellent views of the midnight sun in summer and northern lights in winter. This building has a soul; it's a wonderful place with snow on the ground or the warm summer sun reflecting off the deep blue sea. There's a skippers lounge, artists apartment, grand piano, maidens bower, four poster bed, beds and bedrooms distributed in an almost random fashion and no right angles! The house can be rented with catering or without and entertainment can be arranged. Lena is an exceptional pianist and singer (classical) and can be hired. Ideal for occasional nights or a day excursion from our accommodation centre at Hamn, just across the fjord or a 40 minute drive. Great location for walking/hiking, kayaking, photography, Northern Lights experience/painting and cultural experiences.

Accommodation:
An old traditional building carefully renovated to maintain and capture the history of this unique building. Single and twin bedded rooms are distributed ad hoc throughout the building. Bathrooms are on a shared basis. Comfortable lounges, dining/kitchen (communal). Meals can be arranged according to each groups requirements (pre booked).
