There’s no better way to explore the rivers and fjords in North Norway than with the silent agility of a kayak. Kayaking is a great way to see birds and other wildlife and at certain times of the year you may even be rewarded with close quarter sightings of whales, seals and dolphins.
Both day excursions and extended trips are on offer; the Reisa River is an option at Lyngen Lodge and sea kayaking can be enjoyed from the Villmark Centre near Tromsø or on the island of Senja at Hamm. Full tuition and safety equipment is available from each of these centres and visitors can enjoy guided trips or simply paddle alone after some basic instruction.
During the summer months the coastal waters are usually very calm making the experience even more enjoyable.
