Skiing

The main advantage with such a northerly location is the snow in Troms reaches right to sea level. Coastal Skiing offers slightly warmer temperatures than inland and therefore has a slightly shorter season. Snow tends to arrive in early November and stays until late April or early May depending on location and altitude. For family ski holidays Målselv is the ideal location with a long season of good snow. This brand new activity resort caters for everyone. Drag lifts operate from the valley to the resort half way up the mountain slopes, from there other drag lifts take you almost to the mountain tops. Ski equipment is available for hire.  This is a small ski resort created on standard ski lines surrounded by stunning and unspoilt scenery.

Off piste skiing and ski touring is well catered for at Lyngen Lodge for those reasonably fit skiers seeking adventure well off the beaten track. You walk up the mountain slopes in a wilderness Arctic setting and ski down right to the sea. Skidoo treks to mountain tops can be arranged too.

Cross country skiing is an option too at resorts like Malsev, Hamn and Malangen Brygge.

Troms Region has excellent and reliable snow in both a created ski resort setting and true wilderness, all surrounding by beautiful scenery.
